Arizona natives Jillian Bauman and David Good were fast friends upon meeting at Arizona State University, but it wasn’t until senior year that their relationship got a romantic upgrade. Fast forward six years and the couple found themselves planning their dream outdoor wedding. But instead of a typical Arizona desert backdrop, they envisioned just the opposite: a space bountiful in flowers, bright colors, music and sentiment. The secret garden feel of Heritage Square in Phoenix brought their vision to life. Kendra Beelen of Florals by Kendra doused the event in color with pops of bright peach and pink complemented by pale blues and soft yellows. Both Jillian and David donned a sentimental “something old” for their walk down the aisle: she in the pearl necklace worn by her mother and grandmother on their wedding days, and he in his late grandfather’s bolo tie as a surprise for his grandmother. The bridesmaids sported unique dresses with bouquets following suit, each carrying one of the various blooms found in Jillian’s bouquet and the grand flower arch. Guests were welcomed with Champagne and a quote from a French novelist, while macaron towers replaced a traditional cake—all an homage to the bride’s time living in France. With a passion for music, David hand-selected the first and last dance songs, numbers by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The fun didn’t stop there: The after-party grilled cheese bar fueled guests for endless dancing late into the night.
A secret garden took shape for Jillian and David's ethereal outdoor wedding.
