Inspired by the bold, vibrance of magenta bougainvillea blooms and the storied character of Hacienda del Sol, modern design trends were interwoven with thoughtful symbolism for a romantic editorial. Starting with the stationery, each element was intentionally crafted for a rich aesthetic, the invites featuring motifs echoing the iconic blue tile staircase which, for this imagined wedding day, was adorned with a cascading installation of bright blooms. In addition to the flower-du-jour, rich ranunculus, garden roses and peonies were paired together in a range of deep red to peachy pinks to create a classically romantic feel. "Every floral detail was thoughtfully chosen to celebrate the richness of native desert fora while adding texture, movement, and symbolism to the design," explains photographer Melissa Fritzsche, who captured the intentional editorial.
A stand-out scene for cocktail hour centered on a custom bar with backdrops featuring cutouts resembling the venue's noted bells, honoring the history of Hacienda del Sol. Continuing to incorporate the blue tile motif throughout the reception design were ginger jars, floral vessels and a lamp placed atop the bar. " Adding a lamp to the bar is a growing trend in wedding design that brings a cozy, lived-in feel to reception spaces," says Fritzsche, "It softens the decor and makes it feel more personal."
The romantic sensibilities of the day were reflected in the attire chosen for the bride and groom. A sweeping gown with dreamy layers of tulle and intricate lace cutouts provided a perfect ethereality to the breathtaking and bold bouquet for the bride. A slightly laid-back comfortability exuded from the groom's black suit and untethered white button up, fostering a balance of effortless elegance for the imagined fête. Fritzsche reflects, "My hope is that this inspires couples to embrace the unique beauty of the desert and let their surroundings and story shape their wedding in personal, intentional ways."
